Year 1 - University of York

Welcome to University of York Class!

Welcome back to a new school year.  Our class is called University of York. The Class Teacher is Mrs Alexander and the Teaching Assistant is Mrs Herbert.

Our first topic is ‘Marvellous Me’. We obviously already know that all of the children in our Year 1 class are marvellous but this half term we will be celebrating our differences and learning about other families and cultures. Year 1 will also become young scientists and will be learning all about animals.   

For homework (to be introduced after half term), the children will be expected to complete the pages set in their Maths, Phonics and English homework books and read a minimum of three times. As the homework is quite different to what was expected in reception, a letter will be sent out to parents giving further details nearer the time.   

P.E. will be Monday and Friday, so please ensure that the children come to school in their complete PE kit on that day. We will be doing football and practising our ball skills.  

We are very excited to be working with Eynsford class this year and are looking forward to a fun-packed year with so much exciting learning!
